Gigly Pty Ltd (ABN 85 700 820 604, "Gigly", "we", "us") operates gigly.com.au, a platform connecting people across Australia looking for casual and part-time work with businesses hiring for it. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It's written to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect depends on whether you're using Gigly as a student or an employer.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
Gigly uses a third-party AI model (via Anthropic) to help employers see a ranked, explained fit score for applicants, and to help students see recommended jobs. To generate these, relevant profile fields (course, university, availability, application notes) and job details (title, description) are sent to the AI provider for processing. Match scores are a decision-support tool, not a hiring or eligibility determination — no automated decision made by the AI directly accepts or rejects anyone.
Application data is stored on infrastructure located in Australia. Identity documents are stored in encrypted object storage, accessible only for verification review, and are not visible to employers at any point — employers only ever see a "Verified" badge, never the underlying document. We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law: account and application data is retained while your account is active and for up to 7 years afterward to meet our accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations; identity documents submitted for verification are retained only until verification is complete and for as long as we may need to demonstrate that verification was performed, and are otherwise deleted or de-identified within 12 months of your account being closed.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at hello@gigly.com.au. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe as required by law.
Gigly uses browser local storage to keep you signed in between visits. A randomly generated ID is also stored in local storage purely so our own first-party analytics can tell a repeat page view from a new visitor — it isn't linked to your account or any personal information, and no data from this is shared with any third party.
Separately, we use the Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) on our website for advertising analytics — it sets its own third-party cookies and collects browsing information to help us measure and improve our Facebook/Instagram advertising, and may be used by Meta to show you Gigly ads. You can opt out of this kind of advertising tracking through your browser's cookie/privacy settings, or manage the ads you see from Meta directly via your Facebook ad preferences.
Gigly's student accounts are open to anyone genuinely seeking casual, part-time, or internship work — enrolment at a university or other institution is not required. Registration requires a minimum age of 15, checked against the date of birth provided at sign-up — accounts cannot be created below this age.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the website or by email before they take effect.
Questions about this policy or your personal information can be directed to hello@gigly.com.au.
